The PMFME Scheme: what happened?

Most food processors in India are tiny units: a pickle maker, a millet mill, a spice packer. They need credit, licences and a brand to grow. PMFME tries to give that package: loan, training, branding and market links, often around One District One Product.

  • Over 75,000 PMFME-supported enterprises have entered the formal economy via Udyam Aadhaar, Udyam Assist, FSSAI and GST registrations.
  • Seed Capital has supported more than 4.18 lakh Self Help Group members.
  • 80 Common Incubation Centres approved across 27 States/UTs; 32 commissioned.
  • More than 1.76 lakh beneficiaries trained.
  • ODOP approach; 40 common brands covering nearly 200 products (makhana, millets, spices, GI-tagged goods).
  • States named for strong performance: Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.
  • The 2 lakhth beneficiary felicitated was from Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Back Story

What does PMFME offer end to end?

  • Financial assistance through credit-linked loans.
  • Training and handholding via District Resource Persons.
  • Branding, marketing and market linkage, including common brands.
  • Formalisation support (Udyam, FSSAI, GST).
  • Seed Capital for SHG members and Common Incubation Centres for shared facilities.
