The RudraM-II flight-tests: what happened?
An air-to-surface missile is fired from a fighter at targets on the ground. Testing it at the edge of its release conditions shows whether every subsystem works when the pilot is under stress.
- All test objectives were met, confirmed by flight data from ITR Chandipur instruments.
- Partner labs: DRDL, HEMRL, ARDE and ITR; HAL, RCMA, MSQAA and Development cum Production Partners also contributed.
Who built RudraM-II?
- It was developed indigenously with RCI Hyderabad as the nodal DRDO lab, along with sister labs and industry partners, as part of self-reliance in advanced weapons.
Why does the RudraM-II flight-tests matter?
- Defence: Indigenous air-launched strike weapon for the IAF.
- Industry: DcPPs and HAL in the production chain.
What can Prelims ask on the RudraM-II flight-tests?
- RudraM-II: air-to-surface missile; DRDO + IAF; nodal lab RCI Hyderabad.
