On 1 September 2026 the Central Adoption Resource Authority launched its Adoption Awareness 2026 theme: “Legal Adoption. Safe Childhood. Secure Future. Say No to Illegal Adoption!” State and UT workshops will run from September onwards instead of only in November, with a Delhi workshop on 10 September 2026 to explain the legal adoption process.

Adoption is a legal, child-centric process, not a private arrangement between individuals. CARA wants every adoption to follow the prescribed process and has been working with the Health and Home ministries against illegal adoption. Awareness at State, district and community level is the missing piece.
