Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling: what happened?
A normal toll plaza makes every vehicle slow down or stop. MLFF removes the barrier: cameras read the number plate and the FASTag, and the fee is collected as the vehicle moves. That saves time and fuel and cuts emissions at the plaza.
- Users must keep enough FASTag balance.
- With low balance or an invalid FASTag, users get an Electronic Notice for the unpaid fee.
- E-Notices can be paid on nhfeenotice.parivahan.gov.in.
- NHAI says MLFF also lowers the cost of building and running physical plazas.
What are the gains?
- Zero waiting time and uninterrupted traffic.
- Better fuel efficiency and lower emissions at toll points.
- More transparency in toll collection.
Why does Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling matter?
- Ease of travel: No stopping at three plazas on a busy corridor.
