The India–Myanmar Joint Statement of June 2026: what happened?

Myanmar shares a long land border with India’s North-East and is India’s land bridge to South-East Asia. Two Indian needs meet here: secure borders and working road and sea links to the east. This visit touched both.

  • He visited NTPC’s NETRA research complex in Greater Noida, which works on clean energy and grid resilience.
  • India reaffirmed support for Myanmar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for Myanmar-led peace and national reconciliation.
  • Both sides agreed to prevent the misuse of their territory for activities against each other’s security.
  • Trade and investment in agro-processing, petroleum, energy and mining were flagged.
