Cabinet clears Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot greenfield corridor

What happened
- The CCEA approved a 374 km six-lane greenfield access-controlled corridor from Nashik to Akkalkot via Solapur in Maharashtra, costing ₹19,142 crore, on BOT (Toll) mode [PIB].
- It will link with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near the Vadhawan port interchange, the Agra-Mumbai corridor at Nashik and the Samruddhi Mahamarg at Pangri, giving a west-coast-to-east-coast route towards Chennai [PIB].
Background
- BOT (Toll) means the private developer builds and runs the road and recovers money through tolls. Planning follows PM Gati Shakti [PIB].
Why it matters
- A toll-based model brings in private money but traffic risk sits with the developer. Many earlier BOT projects stalled on that risk.
