UIDAI now lets residents add or update their email ID in Aadhaar through the Aadhaar App, with no centre visit. The service is free for six months from 1 July 2026, and over 2.5 lakh people used it in the first two days. A linked email brings real-time alerts whenever an Aadhaar authentication request is made.

Free email update in Aadhaar: what happened?
Many people never learn when their Aadhaar is used. An email alert fixes that. Each time someone runs an authentication on your Aadhaar, a mail lands in your inbox, so misuse is easier to spot.
- Email add or update is now possible directly in the Aadhaar App, without visiting an Aadhaar centre.
