UPPCS GS-VIUttar Pradesh has notified the Interest Waiver Scheme-2026 through a government order of 16 October. Traders with old dues under pre-GST tax laws such as UP VAT and UP Trade Tax can get 50% to 100% of the interest waived, depending on the size of the principal, and eligible penalties waived in full, if they pay the entire principal. The window is open for three months in all 75 districts.

20 Oct 2026UPPCS GS-VISatellite data from IARI show 134 paddy stubble-burning incidents in Uttar Pradesh between 15 September and 15 October 2026, down from 271 in the same period last year. Nationally the count rose to 793 from 724, led by Madhya Pradesh. The fall in UP is welcome, but part of it comes from a harvest delayed by September rains and floods. The real test comes after Diwali on 8 November, when harvesting peaks and the gap before wheat sowing is short.

14 Oct 2026UPPCS GS-VIOn 12 October 2026, at Gorakhpur, the UP Chief Minister transferred ₹493 crore of agricultural input subsidy to more than 09 lakh farmers whose crops were damaged by floods, excess rain, hailstorms and cyclonic storms. He said about ₹1,000 crore of disaster relief has been given in the state this rainy season.

13 Oct 2026UPPCS GS-VIUttar Pradesh has set a target of buying 65 lakh metric tonnes of paddy at MSP in Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27, against about 62 lakh tonnes last season. About 4,500 centres run by eight agencies will buy the crop in two phases, western UP first and eastern UP from 1 November, with payment promised within 48 hours.

13 Oct 2026UPPCS GS-VIOn 8 October 2026 the UP Chief Minister reviewed preparations for Ground Breaking Ceremony 5.0. About 7,000 projects worth over ₹7.55 lakh crore in all 75 districts are ready to start, including about 90 projects above ₹1,000 crore each. Earlier GBCs 1 to 4 covered over 16,000 projects, of which over 8,000 are in commercial operation.
