The veterinary internship allowance in UP: what happened?

Veterinary doctors keep livestock healthy, control animal epidemics and improve breeds. UP has a huge population of people and animals. A better stipend is meant to keep interns motivated during their practical year.

• The UP Cabinet raised the internship allowance of veterinary students from ₹4,000 to ₹12,000 a month [UP Cabinet].

Why did the Cabinet raise it?

• The note says livestock contributes to the State’s economic growth like other resources.

• The extra cost will be met from the non-salary head of the government grant to the universities.
