ECLGS 5.0: what happened?

When global events push up costs and choke supply chains, small firms run short of cash first. Banks hesitate to lend more to them. A government guarantee takes most of the risk off the bank, so credit keeps flowing.

  • ECLGS 5.0 covers MSMEs, eligible non-MSME businesses and scheduled passenger airlines.
  • It is implemented by NCGTC through banks, cooperative banks, financial institutions and eligible NBFCs.
  • No guarantee fee is charged to lenders.
  • Borrowers apply through the Jan Samarth Portal.
  • MSMEs got 97.3 per cent of guarantees by number and 80.79 per cent by amount.
