CGSMFI-2.0 extension: what happened?
MFIs on-lend to tiny borrowers. When banks hesitate, a partial guarantee from NCGTC is the bridge. Extending 2.0 and lifting the large-MFI cap is meant to push that bridge harder before the window closes.
- Guarantee fee 0.50% p.a. on sanctioned amount (year 1) and outstanding thereafter.
- Interest from banks/FIs to MFIs capped at EBLR or MCLR + 2% p.a.; on-lending to small borrowers capped at 1% below the MFI’s average lending rate of the past 6 months.
- Eligible end-borrowers: small borrowers within RBI’s microfinance definition.
