World Tourism Day 2026, on 27 September, has the theme "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism". In India, tourism contributes 5.22 per cent of GDP and supported 8.46 crore jobs in 2023-24. Domestic tourist visits reached 428.55 crore in 2025, and foreign exchange earnings ₹2,76,831 crore.

On 25 September 2026 the Technology Development Board under DST signed an agreement to give Agnikul Cosmos, Chennai, ₹200 crore from the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund. The money, through optionally convertible debentures, will help take its reusable Agnibaan launch vehicle from TRL-4 to TRL-8.

On 25 September 2026 the MSME Ministry said CGTMSE guarantee cover is now live on TReDS, the RBI-regulated platforms where small firms sell their unpaid invoices. Available on M1xchange, RXIL and DTX (KredX), it covers 75% of the defaulted amount when both buyer and seller are Micro or Small Enterprises.

On 25 September 2026 the Government, in consultation with the RBI, said it will borrow ₹7,86,000 crore through dated securities in the second half of 2026-27, using 23 weekly auctions. This includes ₹15,000 crore of Sovereign Green Bonds. Full-year dated borrowing is now put at ₹15,99,506 crore, below the Budget Estimate.

India took part in the 14th East Asia Summit Economic Ministers' Meeting and the 23rd ASEAN-India Economic Ministers Consultation in Manila, Philippines (PIB, 24 September 2026). The focus was the review of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA). India-ASEAN trade reached USD 128.38 billion in 2025-26, 10.55% of India's total trade.

On 24 September 2026 the Government cut Basic Customs Duty on crude sunflower oil from 10% to nil, and on crude soybean and crude palm oil from 10% to 5%. Duty on refined oils was cut too, but the 19.25% gap between crude and refined oils was kept to protect domestic refiners.

On 24 September 2026 the Department of Biotechnology launched the commercial use of bio-based biodegradable plastic made of Polylactic Acid (PLA) under the BioE3 framework. A ₹75 crore BIRAC grant supports a 100 TPA pilot R&D facility for PLA and co-polymers by Balrampur Chini Mills at Kumbhi, Uttar Pradesh.
