TRAI launches Digital Connectivity Rating platform for buildings

On 25 September 2026 TRAI launched the Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) Platform and a mobile app. Property managers apply for a rating, registered rating agencies test the building, and anyone can search rated properties and verify the certificate by QR code before buying or renting.

The DCR platform: what happened?
Weak mobile signal or no fibre inside a building is a common complaint. TRAI wants connectivity to be a visible feature of a property, like parking or power backup.
- TRAI launched the Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) Platform and a mobile app to rate properties for digital connectivity and show ratings to consumers [PIB].
- Implements the TRAI (Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity) Regulations, 2024, as amended in 2026, and the Rating Manual 2026 [PIB].
How does the rating work?
- Property managers register a property (public, government, commercial, private), apply and choose a DCRA.
- The DCRA tests in-building connectivity with a mobile app and records results.
- Parameters: fibre readiness, mobile network availability, in-building solutions and Wi-Fi.
- Certificates are e-signed; consumers verify them by QR code.
- Both built and under-construction properties can be rated.
