PMAY-G houses and MSP extension for Uttar Pradesh: what happened?
Two needs met at one table: a farmer who could not sell wheat at MSP on time gets two more weeks, and a poor family in a kutcha house moves closer to a pucca home. For Uttar Pradesh, the largest wheat producer, both decisions touch lakhs of households.
- The MSP extension came on the State’s request, to cover weather, late arrivals, weighing issues and mandi congestion.
- UP’s rural housing survey is complete; eligible kutcha-house families are identified.
- District-wise contingency plans will push short-duration, low-water crops.
- A scientific farm roadmap for UP (crops, irrigation, water, seeds, technology, marketing) will be finalised jointly.
Why the El Niño plan?
- The Minister said signs of El Niño are visible and rainfall is below normal, with further shortfall likely.
- Aim: no field left vacant, income protected, food security unaffected.
- Advisories, seeds and guidance will flow through Krishi Vigyan Kendras and the State agriculture department.
