ECLGS 5.0: what happened?
Geopolitical shock in West Asia strained cash flows for traders and MSMEs. ECLGS 5.0 revives the emergency credit-guarantee idea: the government absorbs credit risk so banks lend additional working capital quickly.
- Outreach Phase 1: 20 May to 6 Jun 2026 across nine locations via SLBCs with NCGTC, PSB Alliance, banks and industry bodies.
- Phase 2: ten locations planned; four completed at the time of the release.
- Goal: make eligible borrowers and Member Lending Institutions aware and able to use the scheme.
How does the guarantee help lending?

- That is meant to free up liquidity when cash flows are disrupted by an external shock.
