The India Valve Registry: what happened?

Most evidence on heart valve procedures comes from studies abroad. Indian patients may differ. A registry follows patients and outcomes over time, turning single cases into shared knowledge.

• The Vice President launched the India Valve Registry at India Valves 2026, Chennai, to build India-specific evidence on valvular heart disease [PIB].

What is India Valves 2026?

• A national academic meeting on valvular and structural heart disease.
• It brings together cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, researchers and health professionals from India and abroad.
• It covers scientific exchange, training and collaborative research.
• The Tamil Nadu Health Minister and senior cardiologists attended the launch.

What did the Vice President stress?

• Healthcare is a human right and advances must be accessible to all.
• India must generate its own clinical evidence: “our country’s own data for our own countrymen”.
• He recalled that India supplied COVID-19 vaccines to around 100 countries.
• A Viksit Bharat must also be a Swasth Bharat.
