25 Sep 2026GS2 · RegulationOn 22 September 2026 TRAI released the Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2026. Operators must now offer voice-and-SMS-only Special Tariff Vouchers, at a lower tariff, for each validity of thirty days and less that they offer for data packs, so low-income users who do not need data can recharge cheaply.

22 Sep 2026GS3 · TelecomOn 9 September 2026 India said it had endorsed the Call to Action for 6G Leadership and Security, joining over 20 like-minded governments, including the US, Japan, Korea and the UK, committed to open, interoperable, secure and resilient next-generation networks. It was announced at the G20 Innovation Ministerial in North Carolina. The Department of Telecommunications will lead India's follow-up.

9 Sep 2026GS3 · TelecomThe Bharat 6G Alliance had grown to 90 members by 15 July 2026, spanning operators, equipment makers, startups, R&D labs and academia. DoT released a Spectrum Roadmap for 6G after consulting the Alliance. A three-year TTDF project will build a 6G terahertz testbed at SAMEER Kolkata with IIT Madras, Guwahati and Patna.
