Lucknow is where UPPSC sits, and a large share of PCS aspirants prepare from this city. The exam overlaps heavily with UPSC, but it is not the same exam. If you prepare for it as “UPSC minus some topics”, you will miss marks.
Where UPPCS differs
The official UPPSC syllabus has Uttar Pradesh-specific content: UP’s history and culture, its geography, its economy and its schemes. In Mains, GS Paper V and GS Paper VI are entirely about Uttar Pradesh. Our UPPCS syllabus page lays these out line by line, with notes on what each line means in practice.
The rest of the paper shares a core with UPSC: Polity, Economy, Environment, Science and current affairs. For that core you can use the same PYQ bank and explainers.
How we suggest you prepare
- Take a short diagnostic test and note your weak subjects.
- Do the common core through PYQs first. It carries over to UPSC if you write both.
- Add UP-specific reading in a fixed slot each day. Small and regular beats a big push before the exam.
- Write timed mocks. The Aliganj centre runs them offline with OMR sheets.

Questions people ask us
Is UPPCS preparation different from UPSC preparation?
The core overlaps, but UPPCS adds Uttar Pradesh-specific topics, including two full Mains papers on UP. Plan separate time for them.
Do you have UPPCS previous year questions?
We are adding UPPCS PYQs only from the official UPPSC papers. The UPSC bank is already live; the UPPCS section opens as papers are verified.
Where can I take an offline UPPCS mock in Lucknow?
At the Battle IAS centre in Aliganj. Open mocks are announced on the home page while registration is open.
