The Mukhyamantri Gram Parivahan Yojana-2026: what happened?
In many UP villages, reaching the block office or the district hospital means walking to the highway and hoping for a ride. Big buses do not find village routes profitable. This scheme lets private operators run smaller vehicles on these routes, without the cost of a permit.
- Each gram panchayat in a block will get a vehicle at least twice a day.
- At least 2 vehicles will run in every block.
- In the NCR area, only CNG or electric vehicles are allowed, and CAQM norms apply.
- The scheme runs as a special contract scheme of the UP State Road Transport Corporation.
How will operators be chosen?
- UPSRTC will advertise in newspapers, with 15 days to apply.
- A committee chaired by the District Magistrate selects operators and finalises routes; the CDO and ARTO are members.
- Screening takes 15 days and vehicles must be provided within 15 days of selection; the whole process ends in 45 days.
- Regional managers monitor the scheme and report to the divisional commissioner at least monthly.
What did the same Cabinet decide on land registration?
- It approved amending the Registration Act and rules so that ownership records such as the khatauni are checked before registration.
Why does the Mukhyamantri Gram Parivahan Yojana-2026 matter?
- Rural access: Villagers reach block, tehsil and district offices directly.
