On 19 June 2026 the Union MSME Ministry hosted the First BRICS MSME Forum and the Third SME Working Group Meeting at Agra, under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”. Delegates from BRICS members and partner countries discussed finance, technology and sustainability for small firms. India’s MSME sector has over 8.6 crore enterprises.

The First BRICS MSME Forum in Agra: what happened?
BRICS now has many members and partner countries. Small firms are a shared concern for all of them. Agra, a city of small leather, footwear and handicraft units, hosted the first forum on them.

- An exhibition of MSME products opened the day.
- The SME Working Group theme: “Building MSME Ecosystem: Sustainable Roots to Global Routes”.
- Industry bodies discussed access to finance, access to technology and growth of sustainability-oriented MSMEs.
- Countries named include Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the UAE.
