How to prepare for UPPCS: a beginner roadmap: Battle IAS exam guide card

UPPCS rewards people who take Uttar Pradesh seriously. The common core matters, but GS-V and GS-VI are 400 marks only on UP, and Prelims has its own share of UP questions.

1. Diagnose

Start with a timed mini-test. Mark the subjects that are blank.

2. PYQs before theory

Read old questions topic by topic. The core subjects can use the UPSC PYQ bank too, since the overlap is large.

3. A daily UP slot

One hour every day on UP: history and culture, geography, economy and budget, schemes. Use the UPPCS syllabus page as your checklist.

4. General Hindi and essay

General Hindi carries 150 marks and a minimum. Practise grammar, letters and summaries once a week. The essay needs one topic from each section; practise one every Sunday.

5. Write, then test

Mains answers from month three; full Prelims mocks on OMR from month five. Our Aliganj centre runs offline mocks in Lucknow.
